Jonah Seiger
ceo & founder
Since 1994, Connections Media Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jonah Seiger has conceived and managed winning digital communications programs for some of America’s most influential issue groups, Fortune 500 corporations, and candidates for federal, state and local office. Jonah and his team at Connections Media have provided digital strategy, design, and technology services to such clients as NBC, Starbucks Coffee Company, PepsiCo, Google, The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's 2005 and 2009 campaigns.
Widely regarded as an Internet pioneer, Jonah has deep roots in the digital world.
A native of Silicon Valley, he came to DC in 1993 to work on Internet-related policy issues with Congressman Edward Markey (D-MA), then Chair of the House Telecommunications Subcommittee, and with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). In 1994, he helped found and served as Communications Director with the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), a leading Internet policy and advocacy organization. While at CDT, Jonah led some of the first online advocacy campaigns, including the precedent-setting "black page protest" of 1996 - an event which Yahoo.com cited as one of the 10 most important moments of the first 10 years of the web. During that time, The New York Times described Seiger as "a trench warrior in the battle to democratize cyberspace," in reference to his role in the landmark Supreme Court decision establishing broad First Amendment protection for the Internet.
In 1997 Jonah co-founded Mindshare Internet Campaigns, and built the company into one of the country’s leading web 1.0 public affairs agencies. In 2001, he was recognized by the American Association of Political Consultants & Harvard University as "One to Watch" on its list of "The 25 Who Are Changing the World of Internet Politics." Jonah founded Connections Media in 2004.
Seiger has served the board of All For Good, an open-source platform for matching volunteers to activities across the US. All For Good is currently powering sites including the Obama Administration's serve.gov, and service initiatives by MTV, and the AARP. Jonah was Chair of the Board of the Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet at the George Washington University. As a member of the Adjunct faculty at the GWU's Graduate School of Political Management, he has taught on the role of digital communications in politics and public affairs since 2002.
In his spare time, Jonah attempts to write and record music, and enjoys sailing, cooking, and digital photography. Seiger holds a BA in Psychology and Studies in Religion from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Go Blue!). A native of Palo Alto, California, he resides in Washington, DC with his lovely and talented wife, and loyal dog.
